Werner Hagnauer , Swiss birth. He has lived in Costa Rica since 1959. Hagnauer Foundation created in memory of his wife Llilly Bodmer, who was conservation of native wildlife. Don Werner, or known as "Grandpa" was owner of La Hacienda La Pacifica, located in Canas-Guancaste, where the project wild animal rescue began and is currently known as Las Pumas Rescue Center.
Verena Hagnauer, born in Switzerland, but has over 30 years of living in Costa Rica. She is the daughter of Werner Hagnauer and Lilly Bodmer, and is currently the President of the Foundation Hagnauer. Like his brothers, want the legacy of rescuing wildlife, especially cats, continue through the years.
Nicole Wilke was born in 1948. He has lived in Costa Rica for over 40 years. She outdoorsman and has supported the conservation of flora and fauna through the years. For your interest and willingness was invited to join the Board as a representative of civil society.
Mauricio Fennell is Costa Rican university professor in careers related to the conservation of natural resources in the National Technical University. During his career he has worked on projects in support of the protection of biodiversity and sustainable development.
Maria Elena Mora is Costa Rican neighboring canton of Cañas. She is the Director of the Conservation Area Arenal-Tempisque. Work for SINAC-MINAE for more than 25 years, facing the conservation and protection of natural resources. Your support of our Foundation has been a great effort.
Staff
Our staff is a great team working to leading our Foundation, more than four years. Respect, trust, communication has been the key to maintaining a balance and to give the best effort for the welfare of our rescued animals.
Maria del Carmen Mejia is a Mexican citizen, and has 9 years living in Costa Rica. She is our Environmental Educator, using the methodology of "Learning Playing", as developed by the Community Outreach Program, supporting various activities to other local organizations. Mari also in charge of the Administration and Personnel Management within Hagnauer Foundation.
Martha Lamb is originally from San Jose Costa Rica, with 10 years of living in Guanacaste. She our veterinary regent and has over 15 years specializing in wildlife. The doctor is responsible for meeting all the wild animals that enter our rescue center and those who for various reasons can not be reintroduced and are in our area of Sanctuary. Also works with AFE officials in the area, to handle cases requiring medical attention-handling and veterinary.
Esther Pomareda is originally from San Jose Costa Rica, with over 6 years of living in the area. Biologist is our ruler, is in charge of Environmental Enrichment Program, Blue Flag and Financing. Collaborates with Regent Veterinary in handling and disposal of treated animals, and the Environmental Education Program / Extencionismo and Volunteer Program activities.
Eddy Potoy and Raul Cordoncillo are the caretakers of our animals. They cater to the daily cleaning of the enclosures, preparing food for our animals, maintaining and watering the gardens. Attend our biologist in the environmental enrichment program, working with our veterinary clinical management of any animal and assist in the construction and maintenance of new enclosures.
Frailin Rojas is Costa Rican Bijagua neighbor. He is responsible for the construction and repair of our enclosures, electrical and water pipes, maintenance of other infrastructure of the Centre, use and maintenance of equipment, tools and machinery, as well as the purchase of supplies and materials, and the transfer of donated animals to feed our cats.
Eida Espinoza born in Costa Rica, Liberia's neighbor, is in charge of handling the ticket of entry. She welcomes all visitors and provides the necessary information about our rescue center. Similarly attends our Environmental Educator or extencionismo local activities.
Rosa Segura Reeds neighboring canton is responsible for the cleanliness of our facilities (ofinca, quarantine, volunteer house, environmental classroom and informative kiosk). Rosi also collaborates with the box office or activities Environmental Education Program.
Alejandro Perez is Bijagua Rican neighbor. It is our guard rescue center. He ensures the safety of our facilities and animals.
Partnerships and Cooperation
Since 2004, it actively collaborates with the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Telecommunications (MINAET), through an agreement to rescue and / or forfeiture of wildlife that is found in different risk situations and in different areas of country.
Since 2008 is an active member of Tenorio-Miravalles Corridor and Howler Monkey Pass from our Regent biologist and environmental educator.
Desde 2000, la Fundación es miembro activo de la Comisión Regional de Educación Ambiental del Área de Conservación Arenal Tempisque (ACAT) del Sistema Nacional de Áreas de Conservación (SINAC).
Since 2009, an active member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of ACAT (Arenal Conservation Area Tempisque SINAC) by our veterinarian and biologist regent
In 2012 with other organizations and institutions we form the Commission named Impact of Human Infrastructure on Wildlife in order to mitigate this threat that is facing our wildlife.
Financing
The Hagnauer Foundation is funded from revenues obtained by admission of tourism to Las Pumas Rescue Center and its exhibition area of resident animals, donations from individuals/companies to support our Sponsorship Program, the sale of articles of our Souvenir and specific donations in order to feed the carnivores ( beef‚ horse and fish) and veterinary medicines.
